Meedwellin development
A music player for people who buy their music.
Your Bandcamp collection and your local files, together on one shelf. Streamed, or downloaded as real files that are yours forever. No algorithm, no ads, no rented catalog that vanishes when a deal expires.
A look inside.#
The Long Static
drawn previews in the app's real design; store screenshots land here at release
One shelf, three views.#
Connect your Bandcamp account with your own login, stored only on your phone, encrypted. Your purchases arrive on the shelf next to whatever files you already have. Every row shows the year and the format, with a quiet dot for what's downloaded and living on the device.
Download means download. Real files, in real formats, that keep playing even if Meedwell disappeared tomorrow.
A few things Meedwell holds to.#
- ✦Artwork is shown complete. Never cropped, never faded, never written on. Covers are the artist's work, not a background.
- ✦Gold means money reaching makers, and appears nowhere else in the app. On Bandcamp Friday, it says so: artists keep everything that day.
- ✦The waveform comes from the music itself, drawn from Meedwell's decoder. The microphone is never touched.
- ✦It talks to one server: Bandcamp's. With your credentials, on your behalf, and to no one else. Local files never talk to anyone.
Streaming is renting. Meedwell is for the shelf you actually own.
Privacy#
- —When streaming or syncing, Bandcamp’s server sees your requests the way it would from any player you log into, under Bandcamp’s own privacy policy. Meedwell adds nothing to that.
- —The microphone is never used. The waveform is drawn from the audio file as it plays.
- —App store install counts are aggregate numbers from the store’s own systems; nothing is reported from inside Meedwell.
- —Not directed at children under 13, and no data is knowingly collected from anyone, because no data is collected at all.
- —Made by Kamsiob · questions to hello@kamsiob.com · any change gets posted here with a new date. The full policy, same plain words →
Built and carried by one person. If software made this way matters to you, there's a place to stand behind it. Either way, it's yours.
