KamsiobFor years I was a happy Mac guy. Then the small stuff piled up: software I used to buy once became a monthly bill, every app wanted an account, everything phoned home. Nothing dramatic ever happened, and that was almost the problem. It all felt normal.
It bothered me enough to change direction. And once I started pulling on that thread, it turned out to be about four things.

Ownership
When you buy something, it should be yours. Software you pay for once and keep. Files that live on your machine. Hardware you can open up and repair. Not licenses that quietly expire, and not purchases that turn out to be rentals.
Privacy
Not because anyone has something to hide, but because what happens on your computer is nobody else's business. Nothing I make or run collects anything. Not "anonymized," not "aggregated." Nothing.
Minimalism
Fewer apps, fewer accounts, fewer things blinking for attention. The goal was never more technology. It's less of it, working better, and leaving you alone the rest of the time.
Accessibility
Good tools shouldn't depend on what you can spend. Everything I make is free and stays free. Not trial free, not freemium free. Free, for anyone who wants it.
#Why I ended up here.
Linux turned out to be the best place I've found to practice all four at once, so that's where I live now, camera in hand. When I went looking for honest videos about what switching is really like while you're still learning it, I couldn't find much. So I'm making them, stuck parts and all.
#Small apps, built on the side.
I also make free apps: three for your phone and four for the Linux desktop so far. I'm not a coder; I build with AI, do what I can, and share it, with all the code public on GitHub. Most of my time belongs to my wife and our four kids, which is exactly why everything here stays simple. This is my workbench, not my business. There's a place to support the work if something helped, and it changes nothing if you never touch it.
One more thing I hold myself to: honesty over comfort. If something's bad, I'll say so, even about my own past picks.
